Kauai has a rainy season like all islands do, however, Hanapepe is on the dry side of the island where there is far less rain year-round.
Heavy rain can make hiking trails too dangerous to attempt, with slippery clay soil, and the ocean off-limits, with brown water advisories. Every rainy season is different and every rainstorm is different. Be advised if you want these activities in your trip and you visit during the rainy season.https://www.bestplaces.net/Our house is perched on top of a cliff on the dry side of the island.
What this means for weather:
Days are rarely muggy (dry side of the island + wind).
While we don't have air conditioning, the windows are open all day to allow cool air to flow through the house.
Microclimates! You will experience rain and blue sky at the same time. Clouds at the house? Drive 5 minutes to the beach, and the skies are likely blue.
Every year the humpback whales migrate to Kauai's luxurious shores to breed and birth their babies. (wouldn't you?)
Whale watching season runs from November to April with peak season in January and February.
Not only can you see the whales from our beaches, but you can hear them singing underwater!
Days blocked off in red are already booked or are periods when both of us are off-island. If days in red are critical to your availability, talk to us, and we will see what we can do.
